Non-Resident Savings Account can be opened by an NRI (Non-Resident Indian)/PIO (Person of Indian Origin)/OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) to save, invest and manage their overseas and domestic earnings.
NRIs may choose from two types of savings accounts:
NRE (“Non-Resident External”) Account
A Rupee denominated account which can be opened by NRIs to park their income earned overseas. Customer can deposit their foreign earnings in this account and earn completely tax -free* interest. NRE funds are fully and freely repatriable.
NRO (“Non-Resident Ordinary”) Account
A Rupee denominated account maintained in India; wherein a NRI can deposit their income earned in India such as rent, dividend, interest, pension etc.
Balances in an NRO Account are remittable up to USD 1 (One) Million per financial year, subject to conditions specified in FEMA Regulations 2016.
Non-Resident External (NRE) Classic Savings Account-Indian Rupee Account to park your foreign income earned outside India.
Non-Resident External (NRE) Supreme Savings Account-Indian Rupee Account to park your foreign income earned outside India.
Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) Classic Savings Account-Indian Rupee Account to park your Income earned in India like rent, dividend, interest, pension etc in Indian currency (INR) and overseas income.
