Precautions while logging in

  • Avoid using Internet Banking on shared computers and public places like cafés, libraries, etc.
  • Always remember to log off from Internet Banking section and close your browser when you have finished your online banking.
  • Disable the 'Auto Complete' function within your browser.
  • Install firewall and anti-virus software and keep it updated to help detect and disable malicious software.
  • Never disclose your login passwords/Net Secure Codes to anyone.
  • Make your password very strong with at least 8 characters that include a combination of CAPITAL and small letters (A-Z, a-z), special characters (! #$ %^*-_+=|'{}?/&) and numbers (0-9).

Account Safety Information

  • Change your Internet Banking password regularly and never disclose it to anyone.
  • Avoid accessing your Internet Banking account from a cyber cafe or a shared computer. However, if you happen to do so change your passwords from your own computer.
  • Always use strong, alphanumeric passwords, which cannot be guessed, easily and for multiple accounts, use different passwords and do not write them down.
  • Do not give your account information to telemarketers or to callers claiming to confirm or verify your account information.
  • Do not reveal your Internet banking login ID, password and 16-digit ATM-cum-Debit Card number and your mPIN to anyone. Do not store any of these details on your mobile phone.
  • Never share your Internet Banking passwords with others, even family members. Do not reveal them to anybody, not even to a Suryoday Small Finance Bank employee.
  • Always check the last login to your Internet Banking account.
  • Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB) will never send you emails, or call you asking for confidential details of your account/ PIN/Password/OTP or personal details such as date of birth, mother's maiden name, PAN, Aadhaar etc.
  • Be cautious about any unsolicited offers or opportunities offering you the chance to make some easy money as a representative of the Bank.
  • Every time you complete your online banking session, log off from www.suryodaybank.com. Do not just close your browser directly post completion of your activity.

Protect Your Account

  • Never respond to emails that request personal information. Suryoday Small Finance Bank will not send any requests asking you to disclose your passwords, PINs, Net Secure Code or other personal or financial information. In case you get an email or a phone call asking your personal security details or a Bank staff approaches you to disclose your password, please contact our 24-hour Smile Centre (1800-266-7711) immediately.

Make your password difficult to crack

  • Your password should be complex and difficult for others to guess. When you create your password, make it at least 8 characters long. Include at least one capital letter, one numeral (0-9) and one special character (like !#$%^*-_+=|'{}?/&). This makes the password very difficult to crack.
  • Do not use passwords that are obvious, like your name/nickname, names of your family members, your address, phone number, or any other information that a thief might find in your purse or wallet.
  • Do not use the same password as the one, which you use to log in to your computer or access your email.

Validate the SSL Certificate

  • If you are in any doubt, click on the lock icon of the secured page. This opens up a new window, displaying the SSL Certificate information. Ensure that there is no red cross mark preceding the title 'Certificate Information'. It should also be 'Issued to: Suryodaybank.com
  • You can get more information by clicking on the other tabs in the certificate window. Following the above steps would help you in protecting yourself. However, please remember, fraudsters are always trying to stay a step ahead. So be vigilant.
  • If you feel something is out of place, then do not proceed.

Mobile Banking

  • Choose a strong password to keep your account and data safe.
  • Change your MPIN regularly.
  • Do not forget to inform the bank about your new mobile number in case your mobile number has changed to ensure that you receive SMS notifications.
  • Be cautious while accepting offers such as caller tunes or dialer tunes or open/download emails or attachments from known or unknown sources.
  • Do not store sensitive information such as Credit Card details, Mobile Banking password, user ID, etc. on your phone/computer.
  • Be cautious while using Bluetooth in public places as someone may access your confidential data/information.
  • Do not click on links embedded in emails/social networking sites claiming to be from the bank.
  • Install Apps downloaded only from reputed marketplaces such as Appstore or Play Store.
  • Always password protect your phones to prevent misuse.
  • Do not use "Jailbroken" or "Rooted" devices for Mobile Banking. Hackers can gain access to your personal data and Bank Account details.
  • Avoid using public Wi-Fi for conducting Banking transactions.
  • Install a reliable anti-virus / anti-malware software in devices having the Mobile Banking App.
  • Do not install remote access tools like TeamViewer, AnyDesk etc. on devices having mobile banking app. Fraudsters may gain access to your device to carry-out unauthorized Banking transactions.
  • Do not leave the phone unattended.

Cheque Book Safety Measures

Tips to Keep Your Cheque book safe:

  • Record all details of cheques issued.
  • Keep Cheque book at a secure place. Do not leave your Cheque book unattended.
  • Whenever you receive your Cheque book, please count the number of cheque leaves in it. If there is a discrepancy, bring it to the notice of the Bank immediately.
Tips to fill a cheque leaf correctly:

  • Do not sign blank cheques. Always fill in the date, the name of the payee and the amount before signing the cheque.
  • Always write complete and clear details like payee name, amount in words and figure should match, date, etc.
  • When you cancel a cheque, destroy the MICR band and write "CANCEL" across the face of the cheque.

  • Always draw a line through any unused space.
  • Do not overwrite or make corrections on cheques.
  • Do not write/sign/mark/pin/staple/paste/fold on the MICR band.
  • Always use your own pen.

Phone Banking

  • Avoid giving verification details to Phone Banking Officers in public place.
  • Ensure that no one sees you entering your PIN (personal identification number).
  • Phone banking channel is meant to be used by the account holder only, do not transfer the line or hand over the phone to third party after completing self-authentication.

Cash - Safety Tip

  • Do not fold banknotes.
  • Do not staple bank notes.
  • Always handle banknotes with clean and dry hands.
  • Avoid writing anywhere on the bank notes.
  • Never take help from stranger at Branch cash counter.

ATM/Debit Card Safety Measures

Tips to remember when you receive the card:
  • Always keep your card in a safe place, just as you would take care of cash and Cheque books.
  • Sign in the signature panel on your ATM/Debit Card(s) as soon as you receive it.
  • Never write down your PIN (personal identification number) anywhere. Memorise it.
  • If you receive a replacement card, be sure to destroy your old card by cutting it into four and discard the pieces.
Tips to remember when transacting at the ATM:

  • Ensure that no one sees you entering your PIN (personal identification number).
  • Never allow a stranger to assist you while using an ATM.
  • After completing your transaction, secure your card and cash immediately. Always count your cash before leaving the ATM area and not outside it.
  • Press the 'Cancel' key and wait for the welcome screen before moving out from the ATM.
  • If your card gets stuck in the ATM, or if cash is not dispensed after you keying in a transaction, call your bank immediately.
  • If you have any complaint about your card transaction at an ATM, you must take it up with the bank within 60 days.
  • Do not conduct any transaction if you find any unusual device connected to your ATM.
  • Do not leave your transaction record at the ATM. Shred it before discarding it.
  • Change your ATM PIN frequently, at least once a month.
Tips to remember when using your Debit Card for shopping:

  • Use your card with merchants that you know and can trust. Never allow the shopkeeper to take your card to a different shop/room for swiping it.
  • Make sure that your Debit Card is returned to you after completing a purchase; and be sure that the card that has been returned is your own.
  • After a purchase, always take your charge slip(s) with you and tear up any carbon copies.
  • Check receipts against your monthly billing statements to verify your card transactions. Report any unauthorised transaction(s) immediately.
